In Biharamulo District  it was observed that only 5% of the households have access to improved sanitation facilities. This is mainly due to the fact that most families cannot afford to pay for the construction of the new  latrines at once.

Jonathan (28) created Sani-Loan Initiative, that aims to bridge the existing gap by building latrines and toilets for rural families, which are to be paid back with low interest rates in two years term so as to  finance the construction of new latrines to other rural communities. Sani-Loan Initiative also trains young people in latrine building, to build capacity and increase job opportunities for them.
