About the initiative
Local people in Bangka, Indonesia, are suffering from health issues due to the tin mining industry that pollutes with lead ions the water wells that they use for drinking and washing. Nuha (18) developed Banksand water filter, an affordable ($10!), effective, efficient way to remove lead ions from mining pits. Using local natural resources, Bangka sand can be converted into a powerful material to improve water quality for Indonesian communities suffering from tin mining pollution.
