Joachim D’Eugenio was born in Germany and studied environment and water engineering at the Technical University of Berlin. Since 1999, he has worked for the European Commission, mainly on environmental policy issues. He contributed in the early days to the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive. Later, he focused on drinking water and urban wastewater legislation in the EU. Whilst professionally he now covers other policy areas, his personal interest continues to be finding solutions to global water issues.

Joachim lives in Brussels. He joined Young Water Solutions in 2018 after being inspired by the 2017 Young Water Fellows.
